Dr. Pornthipa Ongkunaruk is a professor in the Department of Agro-Industrial Technology at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand. She joined us for a week of guest lectures, Serious Games, and hands-on learning experiences as part of our Erasmus Plus KA107 project. Awarded for the 2017-2019 academic years, this project grants our universities the opportunity to expand our collaboration from research in Food Technology to include student and staff mobility. Thanks to the European Commission, we can diversify our student population by welcoming exchange students and introduce new insights to our academic curriculum through staff mobility, especially in our food science department.

Dr. Ongkunaruk’s had a busy week! She shared her expertise in Industrial Engineering in our Production Management class through lectures on Supply Chain Forecasting. Using real world examples from her own research conducted in Thailand combined with work done by ISA Lille‘s Food Process research unit, Dr. Ongkunaruk gave our students a new perspective on an essential part of the agro-food industry.

In addition to courses, Dr. Ongkunaruk participated in a Distribution and Manufacturing Serious Game, giving students authentic hands-on experience in overseeing many aspects of food production; understanding each step of these multi-faceted processes is what makes our students professionally operational even before they graduate.

This week was also a special occasion as we turned our pilot food plant into a showroom for Stäubli Robotics! See the Staubli Robot in action! At the end of the week, we hosted a seminar on Industry 4.0, the future of robotics in the agro-food industry, where more than 45 industry professionals joined ISA Lille students.

Among the group were Kasetsart Students currently spending a semester of academic exchange at ISA Lille.

We’re very grateful to Dr. Ongkunaruk’s instructional and constructive visit, Kasetsart University for our continuing, fruitful cooperation, and to the European Commission’s Erasmus Plus program for allowing us to expand our horizons through intercultural exchange.
