“I stayed for one week at National University of Life and Environmental Science (NULES) in Kiev, Ukraine. Several activities and exchanges were planned with colleagues and students over there. I gave three full days of lectures and practicals to students and staff of NULES on animal production and different related topics like animal welfare and European Union policies. Exchanges with students and staff were rich and interesting mostly because of important differences in agricultural practices and cultural aspects. Work sessions with colleagues of NULES were organised as well in which we shared our experiences in teaching, the skills development approach in students and how to train them regarding the demands of the professional world.
Personally, it was a very inspiring week for me as it was my first time in an Eastern European country. I developed my intercultural skills by passing my time discussing with my colleagues and learning a lot about the (complicated) history of their country. I would definitively go back to Ukraine and our academic partner again if I would have the opportunity.”
